Eco – Council

Eco– Council, now in their third year, have just achieved their third consecutive annual accreditation Award with Distinction. This has been a whole school effort. Every year, we as a school have made marked improvements in our desire to continue to be an Eco School. In 2022, we have had a massive push on reducing single use plastic and  were thrilled to work with Plastic Clever Schools on their ad campaign  encouraging more schools to raise awareness of single plastic use. The video ad can be found below

Last year, we worked with Greenpeace for the second year running with the production of a national campaign The Big Plastic Count (TBPC). Plumcroft, like hundreds of other schools, encouraged our school community both in school and at home, to take stock of their plastic use over the course of a week to highlight  families’ carbon footprint and encourage reduction of plastic use where possible for example, when shopping for groceries using reusable or recyclable paper bags for loose fruit and vegetables; choosing to use reusable bags to carry new clothes rather than get plastic bags from the shop; buy refill bottles for everyday household products such as washing up liquids and use reusable hard wearing plastic containers in pack lunch boxes.

You can watch the video for TBPC here:

This year, we worked with Greenpeace again on How young people can take part in The Big Plastic Count 2024!
